What Is Homecare?

Many people in Southern Ohio greatly benefit from all the resources included in our Home Care services. However, many people do not understand what home care is or how it works. Therefore, Blessed At Home's first blog post will be addressing some of these questions.
1. What is Homecare?
Homecare is an umbrella term used to represent many disciplines of Healthcare collaborating in the home of a patient. This includes nursing personnel, physical therapists (PT), occupational therapists (OT), home health aides, social workers and more. All care can take place in a patient homes. This promotes patient compliance and allows our clients to age gracefully in their own home.
2. Why choose homecare?
Homecare services are a great alternative to traditional means of accessing healthcare. We can bypass wait times in doctor's offices and drive time by bringing care into your home. We are then able to collaborate with each patient’s primary care physician (PCP). By working with each patient's PCP care is individualized and specific to every client. Also, we believe in aging-in-place. This means that regardless of disease process and the adverse effects of aging, patients should still be able to stay in home rather than going to a long-term care facility.
3. When to think about Home care?
A common flaw in our healthcare system today is that we do not incorporate homecare services early enough. Unfortunately, many involved family members do not even think about homecare until a patient has been hospitalized or suffered a fall. A big part of what we do is treatment for these patients. However, we deal greatly in preventative care also. Our heart is set on keeping our clients in their homes, safe and healthy. 4. How do I set-up homecare?

5. How can we provide Safe and Comfortable Care?
Blessed At Home consists of two separate parts working in conjunction to assist patients age-in-place both safely and comfortably.
Age-in-Place Safely (Medical Services)
Safety is always most important. Our skilled staff includes nurses, PT and OT staff that work around the clock to prevent falls, medication errors, and any harm from reaching our patients. Our skilled services keep patients in their homes, rather than in long-term care. Medical professionals assess, treat, and educate in patient homes. This ultimately prevents hospitalization and crisis from occurring, allowing patients to age-in-place safely.
Age-in-Place Comfortably (Non-Medical Services)
Comfort is of great importance to family members and clients. Blessed at Home wants to assist clients in being happy at home. Our aides can assist in personal care such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and preparing meals. In addition to providing personal care, our aides also help clients care for their home with housekeeping and laundry. Furthermore, home health aides can run errands when a patient has difficulty leaving their home. A clean, comfortable home and companionship will allow patients to age-in place comfortably.
